Research Scientist

Postdoctoral Scientist
Postdoctoral researchers should have a doctorate in molecular biology. Experience in cancer biology, epigenetics, immunology, and/or bioinformatics is preferred, but not required. Postdocs in the lab will be expected to lead their own project, write manuscripts and grant applications, and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. Send their CV, a brief statement of research interests, and contact information for three professional references to Dr. Chiappinelli at kchiapp1@gwu.edu.

Graduate Students
Students interested in joining the lab should apply to the GWU Institute for Biomedical Sciences. GWU students interested in rotating in the lab should contact Dr. Chiappinelli at kchiapp1@gwu.edu to set up a meeting.

Undergraduate Students
Undergraduates in the Chiappinelli lab will generally work closely with a postdoctoral research or graduate student. Undergraduate are considered active lab participants and included in all lab meetings. We ask for a commitment of at least ten hours a week for at least two consecutive semesters. Interested students should send Dr. Chiappinelli an email (kchiapp1@gwu.edu) with their transcript and a description of their interest in the lab and any previous lab experience.

Members of the Chiappinelli Lab visted J.C. Nalle Elementary School's first annual STEM fair. These future scientists hypothesized which form of strawberries (fresh, frozen, or jam) would yield the most DNA and then extracted the DNA!
